Public Speaking Topics

Having public speaking topics that you are interested and passionate about are one of the most important things one can do to prepare for a great presentation. With great public speaking topics, nervousness from public speaking as well as confidence and connectivity with the audience can be created with much more ease than that of a speaker presenting a topic of which they really have no desire to speak about at all. Here are some tips on finding that topic that makes your presentation quite a very memorable one.
In order to find a proper public speaking topic, you will first have to understand what the main type of presentation it will be.
What exactly are you there to persuade your audience to do?
Once you figure out what exactly you want to get from your audience, you can start discovering the topic.
The first places we recommend looking into are those within your own life.
Are there any interesting, even humorous, stories that you may be able to apply to your presentation?
Using a personal story or two to help illustrate your point will convey a feeling of emotion rather than simply telling an audience hard facts about a topic.
Emotion is what moves people. It is energy in motion, thus “e”-motion.
You need to engage your audience so that they stay with you the whole way…all the way to the ending call to action.
Other ways to find public speaking topics for your presentation include finding out what exactly your audience is there for in the first place. What are they interested in?
Is the overall atmosphere strictly business, fun, relaxed, or social?
How will you use the overall tone of the audience to your advantage? Will you use something humorous in order to gain their attention through a little laughter, perhaps about yourself?
If you cant seem to think up a topic at all simply sitting there staring at the computer, why not try getting a pen and paper and simply jot down whatever comes to mind in regards to what the overall goal of the presentation should be.
Again, we recommend that you use the goal of the presentation whether it is to sell a good or service, or even relay a message and take something from your own life that can relate directly to it.
There is usually something a person is passionate or emotional about in regards to most goals they will be speaking about; otherwise they would not be in the business for long.
Try to scribble down little moments in your own life or even a moment from a movie, but be sure to recognize where the moment was taken from and don’t claim that story as your own.
Chances are that others in the room have seen that same movie.
Finding good public speaking topics can be very simple once you get the hang of finding something in your own life that relates to your goal for the presentation.
